2026 Spelman College Jaguarette Auditions
April 16th-19th, 2026
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Spelman College Jaguarettes Dance Team (SCJDT). We are excited that you are considering joining a program grounded in excellence, purpose, and Spelman College pride. Please review the information below carefully to ensure you are fully prepared for the audition process.
About the Spelman College Jaguarettes Dance Team:
The Spelman College Jaguarettes Dance Team is the official dance team of Spelman College, proudly representing the Spelman College Wellness Center and Intramural Sports Program.
Established in 2024, the Jaguarettes are a team of dedicated Spelman student-athletes
who perform at:
Campus-wide events
Community and ambassadorial engagements
Competitive Collegiate Dance Events
The team is proudly supported by local businesses, alumnae, organizational sponsors, and serves as student ambassadors of Spelman College both on and off campus.
Team Structure (2026–2027 Season)
For the 2026–2027 season, the program will operate in two tiers:
Competition Team
Competes at UDA College Dance Nationals – January 2027
Performs at select campus & external events
20 roster spots available
Campus Team
Represents Spelman College at intramural games, campus and community events throughout the academic year
15-20 roster spots available
All interested dancers are encouraged to register for April Auditions!
Returning team veterans are exempt from submitting a recruitment application, however must participate for placement during the final in-person audition process.
Open Audition Expectations
Attention, students! Final auditions are now OPEN for those interested.
Successful virtual recruitment (VR) or fast tracked (FT) applicants that have received a "Welcome To Finals" email from the Head Coach, are guaranteed placement within the entire audition process until April 19th, with no preliminary cuts to consider. VR & FT applicants do not need to register for final auditions
New registrants should be aware that cuts 1 or 2 will apply based on your execution of previously learned Stingers, audition choreography, skills assessment, and interviews. Letter's of recommendation are a PLUS!
Upon registration, you will find all details related to expectations, schedule, wardrobe, and stingers to learn and have prepared for review + perform during the audition process.
ALL applications must adhere to all audition expectations.

How To Best Prepare!
Prepare for an engaging orientation on April 16th! We expect to see you in your favorite Spelman gear, showcasing your Columbia Blue pride with confidence during the first day for orientation.
For the interviews on April 17th, dress to impress in your business attire as you meet with the head coach + captains.
During practice sessions, come dressed in all black, whether it’s shorts, leggings, or a crop top. Be sure to bring your personal poms, sneakers, shoes, or toe thongs!
Finally, the much-anticipated final auditions are on April 19th! Show us your creativity! You’ll need leggings (no shorts allowed) and a crop top, but we want to see you craft a unique Spelman outfit that embodies our school colors, your individuality, and the sisterhood you’ll represent on stage. Do your research and make it stand out!
For each day of final auditions, ensure your hair & makeup is polished and presentable. Our signature Ruby Red lip is required throughout the entire audition process. Style your hair in a ponytail or wear it down, as long as it doesn’t distract from your choreography or pose any safety concerns.
Stingers! All VR, FT, and registered candidates will receive a passcode to access the finalist audition section of this website, where you can review the stingers you need to pre-learn in preparation for auditions.

Eligibility + Requirements
Applicants must be 18+ by September 1st to participate as student-athletes for the upcoming season.
Eligible applicants include:
High school seniors in the Class of 2026
College transfer students
Current Spelman College Students
Registration Application Deadline: April 14, 2026 at 11:59 PM (EST)
All required materials must be submitted by this deadline to be considered for open auditions.
How to Register for Auditions
Important Notice:
All audition registration materials must be submitted exclusively through the 2026–2027 Spelman Jaguarettes Dance Team Application Form. Materials submitted outside of the application will not be accepted.
Step 1: Letter of Recommendation
While technical skill is important, we also want to learn about you as an individual.
Request one (1) letter from an adult who can speak to your:
Character
Work ethic
Personality
Academic Accomplishments
Future Goals
Acceptable references include a teacher, coach, counselor, employer, or mentor
Ask your recommender well in advance to allow sufficient time for completion
Step 2: Participation Waiver
Complete the Spelman Jaguarettes Participation Waiver in its entirety
Attach the completed waiver directly to your application
Step 3: Recruitment Video Submission OPTIONAL SUBMISSION
Please note, skills will be evaluated on day 2 of auditions. Cuts will be made by the end of day 2.
Successful participants will be invited to proceed to day 3.
Record all required skillset videos
Upload videos to YouTube and set them as UNLISTED
Ensure videos are uploaded well before the deadline
Submit all video links within the application form
